Cuba

In February of 2016, I was lucky enough to go on a trip to Cuba. While everyone is drawn to the natural beauty of hot weather and serene beaches, my excitement was caught up in the history of Cuba and how it seems to have gotten itself stuck in time, a few eras back. 

We landed in Varadero and stayed at a resort nearby on the peninsula. While the resort atmosphere is a great way to unwind and have nearly every aspect of your vacation catered to, it wasn't until venturing out that I got a taste for what the real Cuba had to offer. 

Varadero was host to some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever dug my feet into. There's something about how it is impossible to explain just how turquoise water can get. We made our way around on scooters, which I would recommend to anyone; such incredible fun it was. 

Havana was truly incredible with some of the most visually-pleasing bits of architecture I have ever laid eyes on. A culture so rich with history, it was difficult to only be there for such a short duration; one day I will be back.
