It’s been a considerable while since I’ve made my way up to Saskatoon, just two hours north from my home of Regina, Saskatchewan. Now that the winter’s snowfall has disappeared and spring is in full bloom, it was great to get away, even if it was just for a day.

Tashia and her band, Government Town were nominated for a Saskatchewan Country Music Award and I was lucky enough to accommodate her to the awards gala. Although the glitz and prestige, the awards ceremony was just a small part of the trip.

We made a few stops along the Saskatchewan River in the heart of Saskatoon, often referred to as the “Paris of the Prairies”. It was quite a miserable, overcast, and particularly windy day, making it less than ideal shooting conditions. Clouds and wind be damned, I shot some slide film anyway!

We stayed in a lovely little suite in the Riversdale area, made possible through the magic of AirBNB.  It was a quaint little loft which served its purpose well.

It was really just a quick trip up to one of my favorite cities. I was lucky enough to shoot a few rolls of film before we headed back to make sure Felix didn’t burn the house down.
