May is my favourite time every year. The greenery goes from zero - full bloom in weeks and the weather goes from nice to great. It's never been easier to get up off of the couch and to load a roll of film to shoot outdoors.

Sure, it's been nice but it's also been windy. Very windy, in fact. Even with the muscle behind the strong Saskatchewan gusts, it wasn't enough to discourage 'Big Red' and me. Big Red is my trusty Intrepid (Ver. 1) and in May, I've been motivated to live my life one 4x5 sheet at a time. When the opportunity for a few boxes of expired slide film arose, I immediately acted and loaded every single one of my film holders. 

I've started developing with the Anova precision cooker.  

Through that progression, I've since changed up my developing process for colour films, avoiding inversions and taking advantage of the cute little Paterson twirling wand. While I only got a small taste of what large format slide film has to offer, I feel May 2017 gave me enough to work with and allowed me to dial in process enough for consistent results - it's less experimentation now and more refinement of process. 

I've realized now that large format slide film is my current focus (especially for #summerfilmparty) and that is an exciting revelation for me and my anti-style. We'll see just how long I can keep my attention on one photographic discipline before my mind wanders onto the next thing. 

I mostly talk of large format even though there are hardly a dozen large format shots in the following gallery, it's just where my mind is at right now. Aside from my large format exploits, it's been a busy month of shooting with some remarkable scenes. I've also published the results from my recent dabbling in slow shutter street photography, à la Jon Wilkening.
